Stephen D. Forman, LTCA's senior vice-president, remarked of the occasion, "Newly-released insurance industry data once again demonstrate the predominance of Alzheimer's Disease and other cognitive impairments as the most frequent causes and most expensive types of long-term care insurance claims. The partnership between our industry and 'The National Plan' is such a natural fit that we were honored to lead the way."

Forman continued, "The National Plan includes a recommendation that consumers get more information about private LTC Insurance options, and encourages Americans to educate themselves about LTC services. LTCA is widely regarded for our ability to educate consumers about their long-term care options."

He cited such statistics as:

• Alzheimer's is the top cause of both Home Care and Nursing Facility Claims for those Aged 75+
• 1 in 8 older Americans has Alzheimer's Disease, including nearly 1 in 2 over Age 85
• Payments for Alzheimer's care in 2012 are estimated at $200,000,000,000

In a twist, both the site's developers and the promotional campaign will target Caregivers more than Care Recipients. Forman says this is a shrewd move, "Caregivers cite emotional stress, enormous financial strain, career disruption, and negative impacts to family relationships. Performing an admirable service at great personal cost is often the wake-up call that spurs a family to research their LTC insurance options."
